Who are we?
Bride&Wolfe was born in 2005, when founder Miranda Moreira moved home to Melbourne after six years in Paris. She found she didn't miss the baguettes or the boulevards but she did keep thinking about a tiny timber Hansel and Gretel silhouette she'd spied in a 4th arrondissement antique shop. The intricate cut-out had not been for sale but the ominous, beautiful fairytale imagery did travel home with her. Inspired and curious, Miranda started crafting her own timber silhouettes and sculptures and, along with them, her own timeless fairytales.
Bride&Wolfe designs may hint at European folklore, Mexican Otomi embroidery, Chinese papercuts, antique silhouettes, vintage fabrics and imagery from illustrators such as Jan Pienkowski and Lotte Reiniger. But these and other myriad influences are the springboards for modern, resonant designs that evoke their own timeless stories about adventurous spirits, loving families and personal quests. The intricate creations are produced in Melbourne in small runs and carefully hand-finished in Bride&Wolfe's garden studio to ensure they can be enjoyed forever.
A little more...
Everything Bride&Wolfe makes is designed and made in Melbourne, Australia. The only sweat in our shop happens when we forget to take off our jumpers. By producing locally we get to cast a loving eye over every single item, which includes hand finishing each piece. This may mean slight variations in paint or varnish texture.
